The famous Schoongezicht farm Jersey herd is established near Stellenbosch.

Minor milk production begins with daily delivery from the farm to local houses. Peter Barlow's farm Rustenburg, which they name Simonsberg, is brought into the venture.

Peter Barlow buys the Schoongezicht farm and also begins supplying the town's milk depot.

Legendary Jersey farmer, Douglas Houston, joins Simonsberg as manager to establish a cooperative with other local farmers, and builds a world class Jersey herd.

Simonsberg buys the Morgenzon Dairy to offer customers a choice in their milk's nutritional value. A creamy milk and a lower fat version are forerunners of today's 2% and full cream milk. The Mariroux farm cheese makers in Noordhoek are acquired. Their fine Italian cheese products are incorporated into the new Simonsberg Cheese (Pty) Ltd.

A new cheese factory goes into production at Stellenbosch. The manufacture of Feta begins.

The entire Simonsberg cooperative is sold to Peter Barlow and family. Altapol, a cholesterol free cheese is launched establishing Simonsberg as a leading dairy innovator.

Peter Barlow dies suddenly. The Simonsberg businesses are sold to his daughter Annabel and her husband Trevor Townsend.

Havarti, Feta, and Tilsiter go into production, expanding Simonsberg's now famous range of cheeses.

Simonsberg purchases the Wechmarshof cheesery in Helshoogte to acquire exotic cheeses such as Camembert and Brie.

Simonsberg merges with Von Wechmars and begins production of White-mould cheese.

A factory is leased in Vesta and Feta is produced.

Another factory is leased in Sedgefield, and Blue Mould cheese goes into production.

A new speciality cheese factory is constructed and is currently used to date. The Vesta factory closes and Feta production is moved to Stellenbosch. Stellenberg Cheese is established. Sedgefield operation moves to Stellenbosch.
